Nearly 40 years in business allow the family-led team behind Miller Landscape to combine expertise and creativity with supreme customer service to instill a new standard of excellence in the outdoor industry.

When Bruce Miller was a teenager, he spent his days playing in the dirt—sunup to sundown most of the time—with a local landscaping crew. He loved it, honing every skill he could and realizing soon enough that he was pretty good at it. He decided to make it his career, and in 1985 he started Miller Landscape.
“Miller Landscape is founded on family,” said Britany Heater, Miller’s daughter and the company’s marketing director. “My parents built this business from the ground up and made a lot of sacrifices, so the fact that we all went away to college and then came back to work here speaks volumes about the kinds of values this company is based on.”
Miller’s reputation in the industry reflects that—Miller respects and values his crew members, knowing first-hand what it’s like to work from the bottom up. He’s hand-picked his team to embody that same work ethic and skill level he continually pursued. His crew is almost completely original, celebrated at every level, incentivized and valued, and as a result, they continually deliver higher quality work.
“When you have a team mentality in an organization, everyone is willing to make sure our standards of excellence are met no matter what,” said Heater. “Not every landscape company has an owner that will still go grab a shovel after 40 years or has the experience my dad has. He believes you earn the respect of your team by not being afraid to get your hands dirty next to someone getting their hands dirty. Our company has grown exponentially because we treat our people well. Then our team treats our customers well. It is a brand we’re extremely proud of and fight to protect.”
What started as a traditional landscape-only company (planting plants, mowing grass, etc.) has seen them grow into a team of skilled stone masons and hardscape experts to build walls, patios and firepits, and licensed contractors to install pools, decks, kitchens and more. Now, no matter what kind of project a client dreams up, Miller can handle it all.
If you’ve been to their office on Barnes Road, you know they are a one-stop shop for absolutely everything outdoor. Miller’s team spearheads a project from design phase to installation and handles maintenance after that—a cost-effective, efficient job done because it’s under one roof.
What’s exciting for clients in the coming year is a brand-new location with even more of what they already do well. A state-of-the-art facility features a showroom filled with the top products and materials, smart rooms to see interactive design models using 3D technology and space to offer workshops about plant care and backyard maintenance.
In addition, the new location allows the team at Miller to illustrate the importance of hiring quality crews. Heater emphasized that Miller Landscape will never be the lowest bid, but it’s because they are properly insured, their crews are highly trained and experienced, their work is guaranteed and they believe in investing back into their clients through education and customer service.
“Our vision is to be a pillar in the community that offers workshops about caring for your yard, Dirt Days for kids to explore planting, space to be able to engage with schools, sponsor community programs and provide support to local causes,” she added. “We are a family company, built on the idea of making our clients feel like they’re a part of it. If we’re doing that, that’s what a job well done looks like for us.”
Of course, a beautiful yard to enjoy with that family is the cherry on top.
