Jeremy Adams

By Jennifer Colosimo

Jeremy Adams started gymnastics when he was only four years old. Rather than constant flips over furniture and climbing walls (as inspired by his favorite green Power Ranger), it was his grandfather, actually, that suggested a new outlet for his energy. It didn’t take long before he realized how much he loved it—and a 20-year gymnastic career began. That career eventually landed him back home where, today, he’s the owner of Foundation Athletics, a gym committed to empowering all kinds of athletes in the community to become exceptional individuals on and off the mat.

What led you to return home and start your own gym?

Jeremy Adams: When I moved back to Georgia, I had no intention of starting my own gym. It wasn’t until the last couple of years that I felt God calling me to do so. I wanted to create a safe, positive environment for athletes—something I felt was lacking in this area. Beyond teaching cheerleading, tumbling or stunting, my goal was to build a welcoming space where athletes feel loved.

What is one aspect of the gym you’re most proud of?

JA: I’ve always prayed for the resources to make a difference for others. When I founded Foundation Athletics, I wanted to develop athletes with strong technique in tumbling and stunting to ensure success when we eventually would step foot on the competition floor. However, God’s plan differed from mine. He blessed us with the opportunity to become the new home of The Chosen Ones, our cheer abilities team for athletes with special needs, which has been an incredible privilege.

If you could share one piece of advice with emerging athletes, what would it be?

JA: In today’s instant-gratification world, many expect quick results. At Foundation Athletics, we focus on building a solid foundation to keep athletes safe throughout their careers. Unfortunately, some in the industry promise fast results at the expense of safety and technique, but we prioritize long-term growth and development.

How does the work you do here continue to motivate you?

JA: I love watching athletes progress, from those who’ve never tumbled landing their first cartwheel or round off to others achieving their first back handspring. Seeing their dedication through failures until they finally succeed brings me immense joy. As a coach, I experience their heartaches and frustrations, so watching them achieve their goals—big or small—has a profound impact on me.

Where can people find you outside the gym?

JA: You’ll likely find me at Chipotle—it’s my go-to! On Friday nights, my wife and I enjoy date nights at Ichibon for sushi. To unwind from the gym, I love hitting the golf course. Golf is the only sport I’ve found that rivals my passion for gymnastics. After 10 years of trying to master it, I’ve learned it’s the most humbling sport out there.
