Since her college years at Emory University, Sweet & Lashful Day Spa owner Nancy Shim has called this area home. She’s watched it blossom into a vibrant community over the years and is excited to serve the community that has shaped so much of her journey. This fall she opened the new storefront to be Toco Hills’ exclusive, premier aesthetics and lash spa, and its been the perfect way to give back to her neighbors.
What can you tell us about the new location?
Nancy Shim: The space is designed to be a modern, peaceful retreat with features that promote a sense of calm and serenity from the moment you walk in. It offers a personalized experience for those seeking a variety of quality aesthetics services—from lashes to permanent makeup, clinical skincare and popular add-ons like dermaplaning, teeth whitening and body contouring. Here, clients can get the best results without visiting multiple locations.
Why was this the right time to open another location?
NS: We are celebrating our 10-year anniversary, so it’s a special time for us to expand and share fun things like Sweet & Lashful kits and coffee mugs, upcoming memberships and packages for the nearby students, residents and healthcare providers that make up this area.
How do you continue to find inspiration in this industry?
NS: With my parents originally from South Korea, a country widely known as a global leader in beauty and skincare, I enjoy exploring new techniques and trends to offer our clients in Atlanta. What inspires me most is seeing the transformation in my clients—not just physically, but emotionally. The power of self-care and how it can improve your confidence, well-being and overall happiness has always been the most important motivation for me.
Where can people find you most in Druid Hills/Toco Hills?
NS: Toco Hills Shopping Center caters to food lovers like me who enjoy a diverse range of global cuisines. I often walk next door to Spicy Peach, a charming kosher market where I can grab excellent take-out sushi and delicious paninis like the tuna melt. I’ll also frequent this little Jamaican restaurant called Mobay Spice and order Oxtail Tacos and the day’s juice.
