Rebecca Walden

Rebecca Walden started her own business in 2015 so that she could specifically serve women and children experiencing hair loss due to chemotherapy, Alopecia, hormonal hair loss, trichotillomania and trauma—a niche unfilled beyond sterile, generic options. Today, through her private studio inside Sola Salons in Sandy Springs, her specialty in custom, medical hair replacement has helped change the lives of women and children by offering them stylish, customized and high-quality hair replacement options in addition to coaching, friendship and emotional support needed to get through their diagnoses and back to living their best lives.

Q: What has been the most rewarding experience since starting your hair studio?

Rebecca Walden: My partnership with the Aflac Cancer Center at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta allows me to provide young girls with wigs at little to no cost and go to the hospital to work with them during their care. The look on those parents’ faces, when their daughter gets her new hair, is an indescribable experience that keeps me humble and in awe of the courage, strength and faith of humanity.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

RW: In my 56 years of life, I’ve learned that some of the people you give your heart to will disappoint you no matter how much you love them or they love you, but the investment in relationships is worth it for the growth you gain. I will love unconditionally despite the risk because it fills my soul to give of myself. I believe we are here to love each other and build each other up!
Q: What drives you to continue creating customized medical hair replacements?
RW: It gives me a purpose greater than who I could ever be on my own. My clients come to me during one of the most difficult times of their lives and I get to be the thing that helps them look and feel like themselves when they are struggling to deal with what life has thrown at them. In addition to recreating their hair, I offer coaching and training for the care of their wigs as well as the emotional support they need for wearing their wigs for as long as they are my client. I often develop beautiful friendships that go far beyond just our relationship in the studio
Q: What is your favorite part about living in Buckhead?
RW: My favorite thing about living in Buckhead is my memories of growing up here as a native Atlantan! I grew up when Buckhead was the place to live. I love remembering the bars that were here before the Shops of Buckhead was built, the Limelight, JellyBeans skating rink, Lenox Mall as the best hangout and the Darlington which kept a daily count of the population of Atlanta on a billboard. As a child, I could ride my bike down Peachtree Street and be totally safe. I miss those days, but Buckhead is still my home and I love living here!
Q: Where can people find you most around town?
RW: My favorite spots are Eclipse di Luna and Anis and I work out at Planet Fitness. They have a red-light therapy booth that I swear by for total body skin therapy. And of course, the best mani/pedi in town is at Sugarcoat.
